★ This dazzling pendant is handcrafted from a REAL Morpho Helena butterfly wing. The Morpho Helena Butterfly has long been crowned "the most beautiful butterfly in the world". The Morpho Helena's wings are thicker than other Blue Morphos and provide a deep intense royal blue that shimmers and changes hue depending on the angle and how the light hits them. They also have a gorgeous white stripe thru the middle! The iridescence and brilliance of this butterfly's wings are quite shocking and really have to be seen to be believed! This magnificent butterfly wing is embedded under a large 1.2" x 1.6" magnified glass cabochon and set in your choice of an antique silver (as pictured), antique gold, or black gunmetal vintage style setting. An upgrade to a real sterling silver chain is also available if you choose the silver pendant!

The Morpho Helena Butterfly is a very rare & therefore expensive species found in Northern South America. Its wings are an extremely metallic blue with a stunning circular white pattern. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly.
