✨DETAILS✨🔽
★ I have handmade this unique pocketwatch necklace with a real Salamis Parhassus butterfly wing embedded under magnified glass! (Read more about how I ethically obtain the butterfly wings below!). This is a working pocketwatch that flips open to expose the clock inside! This gorgeous antique silver pocket watch measures 1.5 inches x 2 inches and is on a long 30 inch chain. Comes with watch battery already installed.

This Salamis Parhassus, also called the “Mother of Pearl Butterfly”, originates from South Africa. The Salamis Parhassus is a nymph butterfly named after a nymph in Greek Mythology, Salamis, daughter of the river god Asopus. The wings are a pearlescent white that changed colors depending on the lighting and angle. Depending on the angle, the wings can appear white, gold, or pinkish purple! The wings also have a few red, yellow, and blue eye-spots which are ringed with black.

This listing is for 1 necklace. Each piece will arrive in its own custom gift pouch, ready to gift or keep, with literature on the species of butterfly, and a free die-cut sticker or magnet!
*NOTE* No Butterflies are harmed in the making of my jewelry! All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. I am a member of and donate to the Rainforest Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the Rainforest and the many species that live within it, including the Blue Morpho Butterfly!
