★ I handcraft this real monarch butterfly wing necklace by expertly embedding a real butterfly wing under magnified glass! (Read below for more on how I ethically obtain the wings!). The wing is then embedded under a magnified glass teardrop measuring 18x25mm and set in your choice of silver plated, gold plated, rose gold plated, bronze, or gunmetal. Pendants come on an 18" chain in matching metal color. You may choose your chain finish: Real .925 Sterling Silver or Silver plated, Real 14K Gold filled or Gold plated, Real 14K Rose gold filled or Rose gold plated, Bronze, or Gunmetal. Finally, you may choose your chain style, bead, link, or cable. All chains are shown in the 6th photo. Necklace comes in a custom gift pouch with a free die-cut sticker or magnet! Each piece comes in its own custom gift pouch with literature on the species of butterfly and a free die-cut sticker or magnet!

The Monarch butterfly, also known as "Danaus plexippus" is the most familiar North American butterfly. Its wings feature an easily recognizable orange and black pattern, with a wingspan of approximately 10 cm. The eastern North American monarch population is notable for its multigenerational southward late summer/autumn migration from the United States and southern Canada to Mexico, covering thousands of miles. Monarchs are also notable for having been transported to and bred at the international space station.

All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops.
