I have created this stunning insect mandala collage using 66 REAL preserved exotic insects! The insects include 6 real Blue Morpho Butterflies (Morpho Alexandrovna), Scarlet Nymph butterflies (Cymothoe Sangaris), Metallic blue wood boring beetles (Polybothris Sumptuosa Gema), red flower scarab beetles (Torynorrhina flammea), Fiery green flower beetles (Heterorrhina sexmaculata), Green jewel beetles, tiny Dogbane beetles (Chrysochus auratus) and Red speckled jewel beetles (Chrysochroa Buqueti Rigocollis) or Rainbow Jewel beetles (Chrysochroa Fulgens). I have arranged the insects in a circular kaleidoscope / mandala formation. The insects are secured under glass in a large shadowbox frame measuring almost 2 feet x 2 feet (21" x 21"). The artwork is mounted on a black background with a black mat border and a black frame. You may choose between regular glass or an upgrade to museum grade UV protectant glass.

My insects are raised on insect farms and sanctuaries and are not taken from the wild. Insect Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. I am a proud member of the Rainforest Alliance! *Depending on the season, the 6 jewel beetles on the outer rim of the artwork may be rainbow jewel beetles or may be pink & blue jewel beetles. Both variations of these beetles are beautiful and vibrant and it does not make a significant difference to the overall look of the piece but just want to note this!
