★ I handcrafted this dazzling iridescent butterfly wing necklace from a REAL Salamis Parhassus Butterfly wing under a large magnified glass cabochon. The glass cabochon measures 1.2" x 1.6". The butterfly wing is set in your choice of an antique gold or antique silver setting. Your choice of 18" or 30" chain. Each piece will arrive in its own custom gift bag with literature on the species of butterfly and a free die-cut ticker or magnet!

This Salamis Parhassus, also called the “Mother of Pearl Butterfly", originates from South Africa. The Salamis Parhassus is a nymph butterfly named after a nymph in Greek Mythology, Salamis, daughter of the river god Asopus. The wings are a pearlescent white with a sheen that switches from violet to gold depending on the lighting & angle. The wings have a few red, yellow, and blue eye-spots which are ringed with black.

*NOTE* No Butterflies are harmed in the making of my jewelry! All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. I also support and donate to the Rainforest Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the Rainforest and the many species that live within it, including the Blue Morpho Butterfly!
