★ This unique handmade necklace is crafted from a REAL Morpho Godarti Butterfly wing, expertly embedded under a large magnified glass cabochon (read below for more on how I ethically obtain the wings!). Each butterfly wing is set in your choice of a bronze / antique gold, silver, or gunmetal vintage style setting with light purple Swarovski crystals. Your choice of chain length (18" short or 30" long) with upgrades to Sterling silver available with the silver pendant option. The pendant measures approximately 1.75" x 2.5" Each piece will arrive in a custom gift bag with literature on the species of butterfly and a free die-cut sticker or magnet!

The Morpho Godarti Butterfly (part of the “Blue Morpho” butterfly family) originates from Brazil. The wings range from a beautiful iridescent lavender purple to blue depending on how the light hits them. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly.

*NOTE* No Butterflies are harmed in the making of my jewelry! All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. I also support and donate to the Rainforest Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the Rainforest and the many species that live within it, including the Blue Morpho Butterfly!
