✨DETAILS✨🔽
★ I have handcrafted these dazzling brooches using real butterfly wings (Read below for more on how I obtain the wings!) expertly embedded under magnified glass! Your brooch will feature your choice of a Monarch Butterfly wing or a Blue Morpho butterfly wing. You can also choose between the victorian filigree style that the Monarch is shown in or the geometric diamonds style that the Blue Morpho is shown in (refer to photos). Toy may also choose between silver or gold plating. The brooches measures roughly 35mm. Each brooch will come in its own cute gift pouch with literature on the species of butterfly!
The Emperor Morpho Butterfly, also known as Morpho peleides is part of the “Blue Morpho” family and originates from Paraguay. The wings are a brilliant light blue that shimmers in the sunlight. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly. The Emperor Morpho lives in the rainforest and drinks the juices from tropical fruit such as mango and kiwi.
The Monarch butterfly, also known as "Danaus Plexippus" is the most familiar North American butterfly. Its wings feature an easily recognizable orange and black pattern, with a wingspan of approximately 10 cm. The eastern North American monarch population is notable for its multigenerational southward late summer/autumn migration from the United States and southern Canada to Mexico, covering thousands of miles. Monarchs are also notable for having been transported to and bred at the international space station.
*NOTE* No Butterflies are harmed in the making of my jewelry! All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. I am a member of and donate to the Rainforest Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the Rainforest and the many species that live within it, including the Blue Morpho Butterfly!
*This listing is for 1 brooch.
