★ This stunning necklace is made with a real Blue Morpho butterfly wing (Scientific name: Morpho Alexandrovna)! The real butterfly wing is embedded under magnified glass. (Read more below about how I ethically obtain the wings!). The Morpho Alexandrova Butterfly is a morpho species found in the amazon rainforest in countries such as Peru & Brazil. The wings are an intense iridescent metallic blue in color that changes depending on how the light hits them. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly.

The Chain measures approximately 30 inches and is meant to hang low. If you would prefer the shorter 18 inch chain so that the pendant rests on your upper chest, or a custom length, just write it in the comments when you check out! :)
