Tiger's Eye is a pseudomorph of Quartz and the fibrous mineral Crocidolite. It is formed when the Quartz takes over and dissolves the Crocodolite, leaving the Quartz with vertical luminescent bands like that of a cat's eye, in shades of gold, brown, and yellow. Tiger's Eye is found in South Africa, from the Northern Cape Province. It can also be found in Thailand, Namibia, Australia, India, and Brazil. Traditionally, Tiger's Eye was carried as an amulet against curses or ill-wishing.
It is said that Roman soldiers wore engraved Tiger's eye to protect them in battle, and it is still used as a protective stone.
