★ This gorgeous pendant is made by hand from a REAL Morpho Helena butterfly wing! The Morpho Helena Butterfly has long been crowned "the most beautiful butterfly in the world". The Morpho Helena's wings are thicker than other Blue Morphos and provide a deep intense royal blue that shimmers and changes hue depending on the angle and how the light hits them. They also have a gorgeous white stripe thru the middle! The iridescence and brilliance of this butterfly's wings are quite shocking and really have to be seen to be believed! This magnificent butterfly wing is embedded under a large magnified glass cabochon and set in an antique silver vintage style style setting with Swarovski crystals. The pendant measures roughly 1.9" x 2.4".

You may choose your chain length: 18" for a short necklace, 24" for a medium necklace, or 30" for a long necklace. You may also choose between a silver tone metal chain or an upgrade to a real Sterling Silver chain!

The Morpho Helena Butterfly is a very rare & therefore expensive species found in Northern South America. Its wings are an extremely metallic blue with a stunning circular white pattern. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly.

All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops.
