✨DETAILS✨🔽
★ This stunning eco-friendly pendant is handcrafted from a REAL Blue Morpho butterfly wing! (Read below for more on how I ethically obtain the wings!) The real "Morpho Peleides" butterfly wing is expertly embedded under a large 1.2" x 1.6" magnified glass cabochon and set in your choice of antique silver (as pictured), antique gold, or black gunmetal.
You may also choose your chain length - either an 18" chain that rests on the upper chest of a long 30" chain that hangs down low. If you choose the antique silver finish pendant, you may also choose between the regular antique silver tone metal chain or an upgrade to a Sterling silver chain if you prefer (Real solid .925 stamped Sterling Silver - not just sterling plated!).
The Emperor Morpho Butterfly, also known as Morpho peleides is part of the “Blue Morpho” family and originates from Paraguay. The wings are a brilliant shimmering light blue with black edges. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly. The Emperor Morpho lives in the rainforest and drinks the juices from tropical fruit such as mango and kiwi.
Each piece comes in its own butterfly gift pouch with literature on the species of butterfly, as well as a free die-cut sticker or magnet!
*NOTE* No Butterflies are harmed in the making of my jewelry! All butterflies are ethically sourced from eco-freindlly butterfly farms & sanctuaries where their wings are collected after death to be recycled into jewelry so that their beauty can live on and to raise awareness about their species! The butterflies live their full lifespan, which averages 2-4 weeks. Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops. I am a member of and donate to the Rainforest Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the Rainforest and the many species that live within it, including the Blue Morpho Butterfly!
