★ This stunning double pendant necklace is handmade with a real Morpho Godarti butterfly wing paired with a silver-dipped amethyst crystal point! The top portion of this double pendant is made from a real Morpho Godarti butterfly wing embedded under magnified glass and set in antique silver. (Please read below for more on how I ethically obtain the butterfly wings!) The entire pendant measures approx. 2.5" long x 1" wide. Your choice of short 18" chain or long 30" chain in your choice of regular silver tone metal or an upgrade to .925 Sterling Silver.

The Morpho Godarti Butterfly (part of the “Blue Morpho” butterfly family) originates from Brazil. The wings range from a beautiful iridescent lavender purple to blue depending on how the light hits them. The color in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly.

Each piece will arrive in its own gift pouch with literature on the species of butterfly!

All butterflies are raised on butterfly farms and sanctuaries and allowed to live their full lifespan, which averages about 1 month, and then collected and sold so that their beauty can live on! Butterfly Farming actually helps to preserve rain forests and also assures the survival of natural butterfly habitats. Native people are encouraged to grow plants and raise insects opposed to clearing land for cash crops.
